Following a good discussion in this thread here, we have finally finished some resources on using Social Networking sites

I am sure that this document will grow as people think of more things to add.

I am grateful to all who have suggested ideas, and particularly to Fr. Dominic Howarth for allowing me to use a very good document prepared by Brentwood Youth Service.

I  was a bit surprised that interacting with a minor by a social networking site was considered tolerable in ANY circumstance.

The RC/CofE school where I am a p/t RC chaplain recently had to dismiss a T.A. who had done this (and other misdemeanours) and the school will consider disciplinary action on any staff member who interacts with students in these ways.

Yours,

Fr. Bob Rainbow

It seems to me to be umcommon for a school or youth work project to band Social networking interaction all together, but of course they have the right to do so. If an organisation does decide that such a ban is wise, then of course the employee should follow it faithfully.

In general terms though, I think interacting with YP on Social networking sites is okay as long as sensible measures are understood and observed.
